2,167 marijuana plants pulled, destroyed

What began as a tip to the Kickapoo Tribal Police Department two months ago led to a joint effort by several law enforcement agencies Tuesday as they destroyed 2,167 marijuana plants they pulled from a rural area near the Lincoln/Pottawatomie County line.
According to agents from the District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, the marijuana plants would have had a street value of more than $2 million. The tip that came about two months ago resulted in Kickapoo tribal police initiating an investigation into the possible marijuana grow near SH 102 and EW 1070 Road.

Drug bust nets meth, marijuana, money

drug bust has resulted in three arrests along with the seizure of 32.8 grams of methamphethemine, one pound of marijuana and a stash of cash. The bust was the result of a successful partnership between the Kickapoo Tribal Police Department and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office. “It’s a huge bust made by two departments,” said Sheriff’s Capt. Travis Palmer, adding it takes a “big dent” of drugs off the streets. Palmer said it began when Kickapoo Officer Greg Sciortino contacted Deputies Joe Leeds and Brent Vanlandingham about a tip involving a couple from the McLoud area who had allegedly purchased a large quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana. The couple was reportedly staying in the Shawnee Motel 6 to divide up the drugs for sale, Palmer said.
